A bit more vintage...

I've picked up and sewn a few things this week so I thought I'd share :)
Since its been so blustery these past few days I've been on the lookout for some snugly 80's vintage winter jumpers, here are two of my favourites.

I also picked up a beautiful beaded vintage evening dress, perfect for the festive season. She was a bit of a mess when I found her, with fraying seams and loose beads, but after a few hours of tlc she's now in excellent condition.

I also got out the sewing machine to make up a few re-mades from some gorgeous vintage chiffon and heavy cotton remnants in floral prints. Each fabric creates a very different drape, creating two completely different dresses despite the fact they're made from the same pattern.

I also developed a bit of a crush on tan leather saddle bags, in particular those that are beautifully tooled or painted. These are my favourites from this weeks finds.

The bag with the mice is particularly beautiful and special to me since I'm a lover of all things rodent. I did a bit or research and found out it was illustrated by a lady called Pauline Baynes, a book illustrator who has an archive of stunning work her most famous being the work she did for  The Chronicles of Narnia. Sadly she passed away a few years ago, making this bag even more of a treasure. I have a feeling this ones a keeper, but we'll see!

      ....................................................

Since I found Pauline's work so magical I thought it only right to share a few of my favourites:

Feeling Blue...

Some foggy mist has covered the Shire these past few days leaving me feeling nostalgic for blue skies. I drove over to Harrogate yesterday to visit the Discover Vintage Fair that was being held in the St George hotel. It was a lovely little fair full of beautiful items, it left me feeling all inspired. So today I pulled out my fabric stash and rummaged through it for all things blue, and got sewing to help beat the blues.
Here’s what I came up with. A gorgeous dress and two cute little tops, to add to the ever growing Re-made collection.

Re-made’s will be available to buy at Janey’s stall. They are new garments that are made from vintage remnants and reclaimed fabrics, with vintage trimmings and buttons too.
They‘re something a little different, but they still capture perfectly the essence of all things vintage, which Janey hearts.
